Not Interesting If You Don't Watch the Amazing Race

My favorite thing about my favorite show, The Amazing Race, is how adept all of the players are at communicating in countries in which English is not the spoken language. I'm thinking about the wrestlers andn John and Victoria in particular, but they are not the only ones.

The way they slow it all down shows a real appreciation for our differences in this great, big world. I like how they drop all words but the most important, such as "Fast! Fast!" or "We in race! Race!" Much more efficient.

But I think the best thing they do, and it's so inspired, is the accent from the make-believe country in their heads that they apply to everything, everywhere. It is the universal accent.

So next time you're in a foreign country and don't know the language, simply add "uh" to the end of every English word and you'll be set: "Fast-uh! Fast-uh!" or "We-uh in-uh race-uh! Race-uh!"

Trust me, they'll love it.

Ah, Jonathan and Victoria. Can you just imagine what all those people must be thinking now? These two are Americans? No wonder the world hates that country!

May they never breed.

And speaking of "breeding," if Kendra mentions poverty-stricken people and breeding with contempt one more time, shoes will be hurled towards my television.

Glad to know I'm not the only one appalled by the cultural myopia of this year's racers--except Kris and Jon--they're cool.

and kris and john are my favorites, too. supercool.
